DWR

Given that DWR is one of the very best resources for classic modern design, it was such a thrill to see ferm LIVING's walldots in the new August catalog!!!

Singapore Style

Sharon just sent us some pictures of her apartment in Singapore that was featured in a magazine there. GORGEOUS! We'd sent her the pine tree and branches wall stickers last year, and it is so rewarding seeing them being put to such good use. Being a DJ on a popular symphony radio station probably has something to do with the calm and soothing atmosphere Sharon has created at home as well. It certainly does look like she's living the good life!!! Thank you so much, Sharon!

decor8ing

I've been nursing a rather unfortunate champagne-induced headache today, so decided to spend extra time "researching" (aka blog surfing) on the couch. There are so many wonderful design blogs to browse, including one of my favorites, decor8. That's why I was so happy to see our wallpapers recommended for a reader's office project.

I agree with Holly - some bold wallpaper would definitely spruce up those closet doors and add more visual interest to the room. I can't wait to see the after pictures!

Black & White (& Gold)

After going to see Mamma Mia last night, it was a relief to come home to the new California Home & Design Magazine and see something simple, something that makes sense, something that silently sings, something black and white!

I was so happy to read CH&D's great little article on the simplicity of black and white which included ferm LIVING's little leaves pattern! Thank you for sending it over, Mikhael!

I recently put up the Little Leaves on my bathroom ceiling and have been loving it! This picture is not so great of the ceiling. I did a few crafty wallpaper things for a magazine article that's coming out next month which I'm super excited about, so I'll wait till then to share the full joy that a wallpapered ceiling brings :) For now, I would love draw attention to the awesomeness that is finding your ultimate umbrella stand. Other than ferm wallpaper, this umbrella stand is my most favorite addition to my apartment. I got it here, and highly, highly recommend it!

Such an umbrella stand deserves a smooth operator of an umbrella (right?), so I've been stashing this gold bengal umbrella in it. Not that I've been obsessing about it.

Rubi & Kino

Anais, at Rubi & Kino in Vancouver, just sent over some fun pictures from their super cute boutique.

I love how they used the sparrow wallpaper. And, can I please have one of the grey dresses with the ruffle. So pretty! Thank you, Anais!

Pajaritos

My parents just sent me a picture of the pajaritos (little birds in Spanish) they put up in their newly painted kitchen. They happen to live in the shadow of Pajarito Mountain, New Mexico's best ski area. Not everyone knows it is actually the best. But, it is...

To practice the application, my mom put up a sample birdie... Flawless.

While I was home, I helped my mom with how to position them. I really like to have all the birds flying in to find out what the two sitting birds are chatting about. This is very fitting for my mom, as she likes to joke (in her most inspired Jane Austen, proper English way) when she can't hear what people are saying. "Of what are you speaking? I need to be part of the conversation."

We also tested paint colors. You can't really tell, but the one we picked is a light grey with just a hint of green. Luckily, I had to head back to SF before the actual painting fun began... Looks great, Mom!

Oh, and can someone please tell me how to spell grey. It's grey, right? Or gray? I never know.

Simply Pattern is Here!

We just received some copies of Viction:ary's Simply Pattern, featuring a select number of world-renowned pattern designers, including ferm LIVING! They are available for sale now here!

Above and below are some great shots from another of our favorites, Ivana Helsinki! I actually have that dress above. It just fits a bit differently on me though due most likely to the fact that I intake at least twice as many calories.

Ahhh, beautiful!

We were excited to see more of our favorites featured in the book as well, like Julia Rothman,

Jessie Whipple,

Hannah Werning,

and Lena Corwin! It was a true thrill to see ferm LIVING featured among such great company and in such an inspiring book!

Julia's in the House!

I was just at Rare Device to see the new show featuring home inspired work by Julia Rothman and Caitlin Keegan. I actually stopped by the day before to grab lunch with Julia and see the set up (and admire the ferm LIVING wallpaper above)!

Here's Julia behind her cute cardboard houses!

Julia and Caitlin posing (?) in front of their lovely work at the opening party!

Here are samples of Caitlin's work from the show. If I wasn't strapped for cash that chair illustration would be mine.

Ditto on the chandeliers by Julia. I LOVE that! Nice to see you and your beautiful artwork, Julia and Caitlin!

Modern Economy: Portland

Modern Economy's next big sample sale is on Saturday, July 19th, at the Ace Hotel in Portland, OR. There will be ferm LIVING wallpapers and wall stickers at this one for the first time!

If ferm LIVING isn't enough to get you there, what a great excuse to check out the Ace Hotel. It looks tres cool. If I lived in Portland, I'd start by getting seriously caffeinated in the lobby with Stumptown Coffee Roasters and then go save some serious money at the sale!

New Mexico Pine

I was just at home for the 4th, and between eating my grandma's homemade ice cream, watching Wimbledon, swimming at the neighborhood pool, sipping Gruet (New Mexico's finest export!), napping, and eating more ice cream, I managed to find time to help my parents put up their very first wall sticker in my old bedroom.

Here was the before. We decided to move my brother's art work (sorry, Jonathan!) and put the pine tree wall sticker on the side wall near the window to play up the pines outside.

Here's my dad making sure we placed it straight.

My mom's planning to update the bedspread to something more plain and simple. Good luck getting dad on board with our plan, Mom! My parents gradually turned my bedroom into a guest room over the years. Hopefully the wall sticker will remind them whose room it really is :) Thank you Mom and Dad for the relaxing weekend at home!
