Branching Out

Linda, at SundryBuzz, decided to go "balls-out" and put her Black Branches above her living room fireplace. We love the impact of the black on red - wow! She wrote about her experience (read the full review here) and concluded that "the results are awesome . . . My living room is officially 89% less boring." We're so pleased that she likes her branches because we tend to agree with her (un)solicited advise - e.g. don't get us started on the net benefits of lululemon groovy pants... Thank you, Linda!

Cheng-Ling and Andy also branched out by adding the Gold Branches to their master bedroom. When she sent us this picture, Cheng-Ling told us that she loves how they "fill the room with a calm, dreamlike quality." She also thinks they compliment her bedding without being "too matchy." We agree, and thank you so much for sharing your bedroom branches with us. Sweet dreams!

What the Dwell?!

I received my October Dwell yesterday and couldn't wait to start flipping through it after getting the kids to bed. Imagine my surprise when I happened across our Power Pole sticker featured in In the Modern World section! I immediately called Christiana, and I'm pretty sure she hasn't screamed that much since JT brought his sexy back to San Jose.

We are thrilled to have ferm LIVING featured in Dwell - this truly made our week!

A Throne Fit for the Kingflower

I've never actually understood how some people can spend so much time hanging out on their porcelain thrones -- reading magazines, doing crosswords, etc. Until now... I LOVE these pictures that Kim sent us of her upstairs bathroom and could, I admit, imagine spending some lovely moments in there.

Here's the rather dreary before:

And the fabulous after:

The antique roll holder and mirrors really add to the boudoir vibe the Kingflower brings. And it's a perfect example of the impact wallpaper can have in a very small space. Kim's father-in-law did the hanging and then added the molding - excellent work, George! And Kim, excellent work landing such a handy (and presumably patient) father-in-law. Thank you for sharing your photos - enjoy!

Feathered Decadence

We were so excited to have our Feather wallpaper featured in the Washington Post's Sunday Source yesterday! Along with plumed headbands, bracelets and dresses, adding feathered wallpaper to your life is the thing to do in the District (and everywhere else!) this fall.

I recently added some feathers into my wardrobe as well. Running out of walls to paper, I was inspired by Grace at design*sponge to use some spare wallpaper to bring a little flutter into my closet.

New and Noteworthy

August has been a busy month here at ferm LIVING - we've added two new wallpaper styles that are now available for preorder - Bamboo and Cherry Tree. Email us at orders@fermlivingshop.us to place your order now or for more information.

We were also featured in Decor8, one of our favorite design blogs, announcing our partnership with Design Public, one of our favorite on-line retailers. Thanks to Decor8 for the kind words - and for mentioning our blog!

And another great idea for our Wall Stickers - dorm room decor! The Buzz Report named us their #2 Back to School item just behind the iPhone. As an iPhone devotee, I would also agree that our wall stickers are second only to that miraculous little piece of technology. I love our wall stickers, but they can't give me directions to the nearest coffee shop while I check my email and listen to Arcade Fire all at the same time...

Rock Paper Scissors, in Charlottesville, VA - home of the University of Virginia, also saw the dorm decor potential of our stickers and recently started carrying them. I wish the stickers had been around back in the day when I was living in a dorm room - they would have added a much more sophisticated feel to my surroundings than my U2 posters.

It's a Boy!

We've blogged previously about how we think that the wall stickers are the perfect touch for nurseries, kids' rooms and playrooms, so we were very excited to get this photo from Katherine and Jon. They are expecting a baby boy in October and have almost finished setting up his nursery. We absolutely adore the way they've incorporated the Power Pole and Birds wall stickers into his room. Best of luck with everything, and thank you so much for sharing your baby's room with us!

A Virtual Test Drive

Event stylist, Kim Vallee, was kind enough to test out our wall stickers last week. She gave the gold flora quite the ride before finally parking them on the gorgeous blue walls of her office.

In a nutshell, the wall sticker hanging was a success - Kim was "very impressed!" Click here to read the full report. Thank you Kim! We hope you enjoy the flora.

Incidentally, I gave the black sparrow my own little test run. Being too impatient to wait till a more appropriate time to hang it, I put it up by myself after coming home from a dinner party. Just to be clear though, I'm not actually recommending hanging the large wall stickers alone (or after a dinner party). I'm just saying... it is possible.

ferm THERAPY

We just received this picture from Nathan at Soular Therapy from their recent trade show. He told us that the Branches added just the right touch for their booth, commenting that the white bases of their products against the black Branches was "gorgeous and dramatic." We agree! But now he's got me thinking... what do clever spaces smell like? Hydrangea? I need to go candle shopping.
