Insomnia Inspiration

I couldn't sleep last night, so decided to read a little NYmag on my lap top. Good timing, because just as I was reading about whether James Franco is for real (a very interesting question to which I think the answer is no), I received a comment on this post that pointed me to the gorgeous website of photographer Lisa Romerein! So, in case you didn't get enough eye candy last night from, for example, the Mad Men premiere, here is some visual amazement. Above: I want to have a French Martini there, either booth will do. Below: Oh my, yes please on the floor, the chairs, the everything.

Love the placement of the two mirrors, and how about that stool?

That lantern, where to start? I want one. The high ceilings, sure, I want those too.

Simple and beautiful.
Breathtaking.
I want that blanket. I also want to be able to pay rent, so I'm out of luck for now :)

I'll take him and his kitchen sink, please.

Now THAT is how you do a red accent wall. Or you could do it with wallpaper too, of course!

And now to bring it around full circle...

Quite Mad Men, yes?

Before & After: Mabel & Violet

Paula of Mabel and Violet posted her fantastic office make-over this week - read the full story here! She used fir tree wallpaper to create a contrasting accent wall in her office nook. She also added some shelving for what looks to be a very organized and easily accessible work space.

Here's the before...

Pretty great how easily some pretty wallpaper can transform a space. A vintage lamp also doesn't hurt anything. We love that she added in some ferm living pillows too. I, for one, and am strong advocate for office napping.

Zion's Wild 1st Birthday!

Carrie, from OhDeeDoh, was kind enough to send over this fantastic birthday blog post by Design Addict Mom. We spy ferm living wilderness wallpaper in green and it looks fantastic. What a great backdrop for a party. And, what an ADORABLE party!

Baby Zion - also adorable!
I am a huge, huge sucker for paper lanterns and spring blossoms, so this really hits the spot.

Also, I could go for some of that cake. Especially if it was ice cream cake. How good does that sound right now? I'll tell you that it sounds light years better than the apple juice with crazy greens energy powder I just forced down (via GOOP - two thumbs down with the green powder plan, Gwyneth...). I much prefer green wallpaper to green power drinks, that is for sure. Thanks so much for the heads up, Carrie, and a very happy birthday to you, Zion!

Moody

I really love how decor can create such different moods. Here's a favorite ceiling lamp of mine (via designformandkind). Combined with wilderness wallpaper in white, it'd be like living in disco heaven!

This huge photograph of dark, mysterious ocean waves with a touch of sparking sunlight is just SO AMAZING (sorry, I can't remember where I found the image...). I think the wilderness wallpaper in black lacquer evokes a similarly intriguing yet calming vibe. Or maybe I'm just feeling moody? :)

Glam

A lovely customer, Miranda, sent us this picture of her master bedroom with newly installed Tree Bomb wallpaper! We love how it turned out and thinks it works so beautifully with her black headboard and those gorgeous pillows! Thanks, Miranda!

What's Corking?

We were really pleased to be featured in Kim Cook's AP story this weekend about cork home decor! There are so many cool products being made from cork these days. The story explains why it is such a great substance and showcases a number of new cork items of the market these days, including:
Our cork dinner mats and cork trivet! Check them out in our kitchen section. Also, be sure to start using the word corking more. [Thought I'd check the usage just in case it was a term for something, well, not PG, that I didn't know about...but it isn't.] Have a corking Monday!

Happy Friday!

This weekend I plan to spend a lot more time cruising around the city on my new bicycle. It was Uncle's bicycle and just delivered from Iowa to me last week. It makes me think of him which makes me smile. I'd forgotten how freeing cruising around on a bike can feel. I just got this Wizard of Oz type basket on the front which adds an extra element of fun. Hope you have happy weekends out there!

Nursery Fairground

I was delighted to find these pictures on Flickr of such an adorable nursery. With our Ferris wallpaper as a background, the combo of the vintage bed, gorgeous curtains, butterfly wall stickers, wooden stool and lovely floors add up to perfection!

Wallpaper Chat at From the Right Bank

I'm super excited to be guest blogging at one of my favorite design blogs, From the Right Bank, today! My post is, not surprisingly, about wallpaper. I focused on my favorite wallpaper applications that add wallpaper into the mix of old and new. You can read it here. Thank you, Ally!

One of my favorite examples I forgot to include was Matthew Williamson's room from the book, New London Style. I think it is an amazing mix of eras (and colors...), and the wallpaper works beautifully!

Back from the Party

Oops, I just realized that I haven't blogged in a little while. My only excuse (which I do feel is a good one) is that I've been spending my free time watching Party Down. Have you been watching? I love it. Anyway, I'm all caught up so I can focus on some of my other favorite things again, like wallpaper...

Happy Weekend!

Just came across this mural from A Love Letter blog, and thought it was a lovely interpretation of what home means. I'm planning to explore my new city for a bit this weekend, eats lots of good food and take naps...

Hope you have a fantastic weekend!

Pin It Forward!

I'm taking part in SFgirlbybay's Pin It Forward, and I have to say, it has been so fun trying to put What Home Means To Me into photographs. It was also a little difficult since "pinning" pictures of my family and friends wasn't and option :) I am excited to share some of my favorite images and my Pin Board here!

Most importantly, home is a place for love - to feel loved, to love others, to fall in love, etc. It is also a place to learn and to pursue passions and interests. Home is a place where you are most yourself. (Pins via style-files and Roseland Greene.)

Home is the best place to unwind and calm down, but also the best place to laugh, dance and have fun. (Pins via emmas blog and Apartment Therapy.)

Home is where you can pursue the perfect shades of gray. (Pins via Audrey Road and emmas blog.)

Last, but of course, not least... Home is where you can wallpaper without limits! (Pins via Clever Spaces and Purple Area.). I actually found it so helpful using Pinerest, that I started another board about my favorite wallpaper applications which I'll share with you later this week.

In the meantime, be sure to check out a Taste for T tomorrow for her home inspiration board!

From Paris to the...San Diego

My friend Vivi just sent this great pictures of the Voila wallpaper she put up with her husband Mike in their new apartment in San Diego. I love how it turned out and think they did a fabulous job! She mentioned that they wallpapered along to our How To Wallpaper video, which made me smile only because is so satisfying to hear it actually helped someone considering that is wasn't the easiest thing to produce (due to my wallpapering friend's insane, albeit inspirational, attention to detail...

Thank you Vivi and Mike for sharing your living room with us! I'm planning to visit this summer so get ready :) Thinking road trip up the coast, yes?

Dream Big

We were really excited to see this post on Remodelista showcasing the room of Martha McQuade's son in Minneapolis. She had us at the world map wall sticker, of course.

Everything is so adorable, simply, yet fun, and beautifully put together.

Aimee went to a trunk show last week featuring some of Martha's work (she's behind the lovely Uniform Studio which we also featured here) where she got a scarf. I'm thinking if it is the one above, I am going to be quite jealous...

Planes, Trains, Automobiles. Light Rails, BART...

I'm heading back to SF today for a whole week! I'm so excited excited to leave the cold rain behind here that I've almost forgotten the frustration of not being able to figure out any justification at all for why I deserve to buy these adorable boots (check out the whole shop if you get the chance - so cool!). [Just FYI - my legs aren't nearly that skinny, but they are definitely just as pale white - I came out on the short end of the deal on that one.] I'll be going to my friends' wedding, seeing dear friends, meeting with an interior design client (yes, we recommended some ferm living for their home!), and going to a couple mildly arguably business meetings (okay okay, so I'm meeting friends for brunch...and I'm sure we'll talk about wallpaper!) I'll try to blog a few posts while I'm gone, which I anticipate being related to eating, happy hours, and hills.

Website Updates

We just finished up adding all the new things for spring/summer on our website - lots of pretty new home accessories - candles, vases, pillows, blankets, poufs, and more. We're super excited to see them in person. They'll start shipping from our warehouse in the next couple weeks!

And, lots of lovely new children's pillows, wall stickers, toys and blankets (including these happy pillows designed by Darling Clementine).

Be sure to check out new SALE section as well for great deals on discontinued wall stickers, tea towels, place mats, ornaments, and the Wallpaper Projects Book (and, if you buy three rolls of wallpaper the book is free - so there you go!).
