Heavenly Stairways

Here's a really simple way to enhance a staircase. Pick a pattern that you can cut vertically, measure each step, cut and apply paper with heavy duty double stick tape.

Here's the before...

During...

A brief trip to Iowa got in the way of project completion. Nope, not heaven, but close...

And back to finish the bottom stairs. Just in time for the visit from Sunset Magazine.

You can read the full step by step how to here.

Above was the inspiration I found for the steps from a Danish home that used the lovely bindweed pattern. I really love the white steps, but I didn't want to push it with my wonderful landlord whose already been more than understanding about my apparent addiction to wallpaper.

Another terrific way to enhance a stairway is to, of course, just paper the wall. This one's from the home of one of the owner's of Urban Source in Chicago. So pretty!

This looks GREAT, Christiana! I've just written a blog post about wallpapered stair risers, and I think I'll be doing this in my own house soon, too. :) Thank you for the inspiration.

Yum. I really want to do something with the stairs in my currently being torn apart house. One day I guess but thanks for posting this inspiration!

Hi. I found this post from Folding Trees. What a great idea! Love the paper - both yours and the inspiration. Makes me wish I had stairs.
