I was so excited to pick up the latest Sunset Magazine! There is a great feature on Meg Mateo Ilasco and her family's home, which is, in and of itself, so lovely! But, that it included some ferm living wallpaper in the bedroom made it extra special!
Also, I will attest, the autumn leaves in the Southwest are STUNNING at the moment. I've been driving back and forth from CO to NM, and they truly are a feast for the eyes!

Hydrangeas in SF
Eliza just sent me this lovely picture of the hydrangea wall sticker she put up in her bedroom. I think it looks so great with the striped bedding and adorable branch coming out of the corner of her wall :) Thanks, Eliza!!

Gravity!
We just put up Gravity in a most gorgeous home in Piedmont last week. It went up in the children's bathroom. Very lucky kids, if you as me! It was quite a challenge - lots of curves and cut-ins - so we were delighted with how it turned out. Wallpapering really isn't that hard, I swear, just got to stretch, take some deep breaths, and hug the seams. Hugging the seams - that is where it is at.
The first strip is always the toughest. The key it to make sure you get it hanging straight. Definitely use a level. I hear you are supposed to use a plumb line, but that is crazy complicated, and a level works just fine. Not the iphone level app though, just FYI. Plus your phone can get sticky from the paste and it can sort of spiral down from there :)
We reached the cut-in section for the bathtub after lunch. Good timing, as cut-ins require nourishment. Like coffee, potato chips, Gardettos, etc. Good music helps too!
Working the wall.
Navigating the ceiling.
Done!
Done!
And done! I wish you could see it in person. Small rooms with all four walls papered are really just so fun! Next apartment I live in I am going to roll with a full room of wallpaper. Or two...

Wall Changes
Here's a couple "during" shots of our feather wallpaper going up at a client's house near San Jose! I promise it looked so good when it was up, but I got distracted trying to catch my train back to SF, so forgot to take an after picture. I also missed the train. Which lead to the discovery of a really amazing dive bar in downtown San Jose...
Here's the before.
Here's a before of the living/dining room.
And, here's the after. We were so happy with how the black wall turned out!
Side note: I calculated how much wallpaper I need to hang to justify buying this necklace. It is going to take A LOT. So, don't forget to call me if you need a wallpaper hanger. I'm really good, and I'll let you pay me in jewels!

Week in Rueview
What a fun week in the blogosphere! Rue Magazine premiere issue launched, and let's just say it didn't disappoint! Aimee and I were both so impressed with the content and mix of styles, gorgeous photographs, writing style, etc - what a treat. On a personal note, I was lucky enough to be able to contribute a couple projects to Rue as well! I'll blog more about the wilderness wallpaper screen later for those wanting the how-to details - you know you want to make one, right?
We were also really excited to get a shout out in Rue from Holly at Decor8 who is contemplating using Little Leaves wallpaper in her new home. Thank you, Holly!
Holly played around with a sample here. We give it two big thumbs up!
Speaking of Little Leaves, we also just received this lovely picture of a stairway in Cambridge, MA. Thank you, Dan, it looks fab!
During my second reading of Rue, I noticed our Bindweed wallpaper made a lovely little appearance as well in Toni Hacker and Ben Harnett's apartment. [Have you checked out their handbags, by the way? I might need this one.]
I wonder what I'll discover when I go back and read it again... Thanks so much Anne and Crystal, and big CONGRATULATIONS on the launch of Rue!

Wallpapering Over Wood Paneling
CHECK this out! You can (and in most cases you should, in my expert.ish opinion) wallpaper over wood paneling.
With a few tips from ferm LIVING, Jaime at ShelterPop provides step by step directions to turn old wood paneling into a dream wallpaper surface :) Okay, maybe not quite a dream... but these results are great! It is astonishing what wallpaper liner and some pretty wallpaper can do! Thanks so much, Jaime!

3 Ways to Make Wallpapering (Even More...) Fun
1. Friends. Wallpapering with a friend definitely makes it more fun. No surprise there, I suppose.
2. Sparkly nail polish. Yep, it makes wallpapering closer to a party than a chore. This particular color is called "Superstar." It rocks.
3. Wine. Given that wine quite possibly makes most everything more fun depending on your view of things...wine does indeed make wallpaper more fun. Even cheap wine. In moderation, of course...
This is my friend Rachel, who owns speesees and just opened up her first retail shop on Valencia! She wanted to put up a little wallpaper as a backdrop for her framed press pages, so we spent a couple hours last week catching up over wine and wallpaper paste. Here she is applying some extra paste to the corners.
The wall in need of some Little Leaves wallpaper love.
That's me working on some seam hugging.
Side note: How cute is this curtain made of speesees hankies?
Done.
More done.
Let's celebrate. Congrats, Rachel!

Oh Happy Cake
I stopped by Jordan Ferney's studio last week to check out her lovely cake paintings, and oh wow, they were even more amazing in person! Jordan Ferney did the art direction and her husband, Paul, painted all the cakes. Being the type of person that needs to figure out what my favorite thing is in any category of things, I, of course, picked out my favorite cake painting!
Third runner up was this butter cream with sprinkles. My choices were based on the painting's description, as all the cakes were just too pretty that it became confusing.
Second runner up: Anything with that involves eating chocolate cake and star gazing is a big yes please!
First runner up: I do this with falafel. It never tastes as good as eating it in the Marais. Must try with cake!
The winner! Can you guess why?

Manufactory
Last week, I stopped by the opening party of Manufactory. The main attraction at this new store is the work of the very talented, Erin Currie. Although, she's a well known artist in the Twin Cities, I hadn't actually seen her work before. I was blown away. She has such a unique style and detailed eye. I'm fascinated by people that have so much imagination and are able to express is so beautifully.
Hello Misters!
Dressing up.
Love this dancing couple. The silohuette is made from leather. Gorgeous.
Studded!
Wanting one of these penny-eyed figures real bad. They would look so hip on a bar or book shelf. Yeah, I might need to go back...
