Modern Economy is having a sale in San Francisco this Saturday at Fort Mason! ferm LIVING's participating again, so there will be deep discounts on discontinued wallpapers and select wall decals.
I'm planning to be there when the doors open, as I have my eye on some scarves by Virginia Johnson. I love her flowy tops too. I'm crossing my fingers they are on sale. So much great stuff for cheap. This could be trouble...

Wallpaper Projects is Here!
Just got my copy of Wallpaper Projects! We donated some wallpaper to the authors last year and have been really excited to see how it turned out. It does not disappoint!
I LOVE this door panel. The family tree design works so well as a single panel!
This patchwork collage is gorgeous too - love the gold wilderness and turquoise ribbed together!
And the wildflower in green works so perfectly in this bathroom cabinet. I'd done the inside of my secretary desk last year. The pattern is conducive small spaced projects.
Of course, there are A LOT of other fabulous projects using equally fabulous wallpapers. I've just chosen to focus on my ferm favorites for obvious reasons :)
The authors, Derek and Lauren, were interviewed on design*sponge yesterday which you can read more about here!

Wallpaper Liner
I just delved into the world of wallpaper liner, so thought I'd share what I've learned so far. It is really quite easy, and a PERFECT solution for bumpy wall owners who want to wallpaper. You prep the rough wall with a quick once over with sandpaper and then rinse the dust of with a wet sponge.
Measure the width of the wall, cut and then paste the back of the paper with wallpaper paste. We put wallpaper paste on the wall too, just to make sure we didn't miss any spots!
Hang the paper horizontally and use a squeegie to get rid of any excess paste. Hug the seams between the strips like you would any wallpaper.
It took about 2 hours to do this wall and now it is almost ready for wallpaper! We just need to let is dry for two days and then prime it prior to wallpapering. We'll be putting up the ribbed in black/beige. Should be so pretty!

We Get By With a Little Help...
We received some images from friends of ferm LIVING in their homes this week and it reminded Christiana and I of how incredibly supportive all of our friends have been since we started this endeavor almost 3 years ago now. Above, our friend Kate's dining room which has been spruced up by some silver Berry Black wall stickers. I can't wait to get back to San Francisco so I can sit there and catch up with one of my dearest friends.
And these photos are from my friend Ann's house. I love how she put the little sample birdie on her Coat Tree sticker! And the Ribbed wallpaper looks very elegant against those lovely gray walls...
We're truly lucky to have such a supportive, stylish group of friends. They've put our products in their homes, recommended them to countless people and they always respond when we want to bounce ideas off people, have questions about stores to contact in other cities or need legal advice (yes, I do see the irony in that). Most importantly, though, they've always believed that we could actually pull this off, even when we didn't. :)

The Natural
Holly at decor8 just posted a beautiful tour of Anh-Minh Le's home! When I met Anh-Minh over a year ago, I could tell right away that she had impeccable taste! Which is why I was extra excited that she liked ferm LIVING! She has a natural eye for style both with her interior design and the way she dresses (as you can see from the super cute accessories she has in her home!) Above is her office with Feather wallpaper accents. Love it! And below is her lovely entry way. I covet that bench.
I think her application of the branches is just perfect! I want those shoes very badly. And, below is a whimsical wall mural by one of her favorite artists, Jill Bliss. Ahhhhhh...
