Go Get the Ladder...

We are constantly intrigued by the different ways people use our products. Sometimes things that would never have occurred to us end up being a really great idea. Case in point, wallpapering your ceilings. Point Click Home recently ran an article about wallpapering your ceiling and featured a photo from one of my favorite places, the Walker here in Minneapolis. Oddly, I never realized that was wallpaper in those nooks...

They chose the Wilderness wallpaper from the new collection, and we have to agree - the pattern and the brightness is well suited to jazz up your ceiling! Just let us know if we'll need to blog later about the best way to get wallpaper paste stains out of your carpet...

Jackson Square, San Francisco

When I first moved to Telegraph Hill, I stumbled upon Eden & Eden and immediately fell in love with it. Every time I pop in, I always find something I never knew I needed. This is why we were thrilled when they started carrying ferm LIVING!

Eden & Eden if full of unexpected and unique home accessories, clothing and jewelry from Europe. So, when Aimee told me I could pick out something for my birthday (thank you, Aimee!), I knew exactly where to go. I ended up choosing this Tatty Divine Pegasus necklace. Divine as in I might as well be a rock star, yes?

If you live in San Francisco, a visit to Eden & Eden is a must. And be sure to check out ferm LIVING when you get there. But, please don't buy those gold bookends in the window. I'm going back to get them...

A Little R&R

Rachel, who rents an apartment in the Mission, SF, just sent us this picture of her beautiful bedroom. What a calm and peaceful place to sleep and re-energize. The Branches Wall Sticker really adds to the restful ambiance. Is it me, or are you feeling a little lighter just looking at it? Thanks so much, Rachel. Enjoy!

Wall Stickers are a great option for apartment renters like Rachel which is why we were quite excited to see the ferm LIVING shout out in Apartment Therapy: New York. Thank you, AT!

Custom-Colored Wall Stickers?

We love Berry Black Wall Stickers in the bathroom. Here, we think the cool, silver tone looks just right with the light blue walls and white trim.

However, Tana, in Santa Barbara, wanted the Berry Black Wall Sticker in a warmer, cream color to keep her bathroom palette simple and crisp. By using the Wall Sticker as a stencil, she was able to create the perfect look! Here's Tana's step-by-step...

Step 1: Paint the wall the color you want the Wall Sticker design to be and let dry.

Step 2: Apply the wall sticker using the handy transfer sheet.

Step 3: Use the scraper to ensure the Wall Sticker is securely attached to the wall.

Step 4: Paint a different color over the entire accent wall and wall sticker.

Step 5: Let paint dry and then remove wall sticker. (And yes, it is a bit heart breaking to see such a lovely wall sticker being removed so soon after being hung up - but totally worth it in this particular instance!)

Step 6: Voile! Beautifully custom-colored berries.

When applied to walls, Wall Stickers look like they've been painted on, so Tana's stencil idea really does have the same affect as a custom-colored Wall Sticker. We're excited just thinking about the unlimited ways this stencil option could be implemented. Thanks so much for sharing your craftiness with us, Tana. Enjoy!

Feeling Lucky!

It was so fun to see our soon-to-be-launched bedding line featured in the Los Angeles section of Lucky Magazine's October issue. Our duvet sets will be based on designs from both wallpaper collections, and we'll start taking pre-orders in the next few months! Sign up for our newsletter to be the first to know when it drops.

It might not always be quite as sunny up here in San Francisco as in the City of Angels, but I'm feeling particularly shined upon because Lucky Magazine returned the Feathers bedding sample duvet set to me (sorry, Aimee). I've been busy testing it out, of course. As if I didn't have a hard enough time getting out of bed already. But at least now I have a great excuse - hello, I'm working.

Home is Where the Heart Is

If that's true, we might need to move to Santa Monica because we adore how Asher at Weego Home has displayed ferm LIVING's feather wallpaper. So pretty! We also happen to love the other great finds at Weego Home, including this clock. Ah yes, I'm going to need that clock.

We're so happy to be working with such a fabulous home store and can't wait to get down there to do some serious shopping. If you live in the Los Angeles area, be sure to stop by and check out their extensive collection of ferm LIVING products.

Our Kind of Town...

Christiana and I both previously lived in the Windy City at different times, so it holds a very special place in our hearts. Our list of Chicago favorites is long - p45, Milk and Honey, Sushi Wabi, the Michigan Avenue bridge, Brian Urlacher (a fellow New Mexican), the Art Institute, the lake front in the summertime... And now we have another thing to heart about Chitown - Urban Source Chicago is carrying ferm LIVING wallpaper!

So whether you live in a Bucktown loft, a Lincoln Park brownstone, or a River North high rise, Urban Source will make it easy for you to choose just the right design of our wallpaper to brighten your space. Go Bears!

My Design Trifecta

Three of my biggest obsessions (Denmark, wallpaper and Dwell) collided this morning on dwell.com where ferm LIVING's wallpaper was featured as product of the day! It was almost too much to take in. Almost. So, I tried to distract myself for a few minutes by watching their interesting Design Leaders video feature about Danish architecture. But that just got me right back to thinking about how much I love Danish design. And wallpaper. And Dwell... What a great way to start day!

Formland, Fall '07

ferm LIVING recently participated in Formland - Scandinavia’s largest home accessory and gift fair. Trine just sent us these photos of their stunning booth. The new wallpaper collection, Graphics in Nature, and several new wall stickers (coming soon!) had their big debut at the fall show. ferm LIVING's wall stickers were nominated for the prestigious design award last spring. We also launched the new wallpaper collection here and have been excited by the response, especially the one over at design*sponge. We can't wait for the first shipment to arrive.

It probably does not get much better than the largest home accessories fair in Scandinavia. Christiana and I are hoping to attend in person next year. That would a totally legitimate business expense, right?
